On the left side of the border &quot;1908&quot; is written in pencil and on the right side of the border &quot;L.R.&quot; is also written in pencil. On the back is a note to Miss Gertrude Gerhard in Denver, Colorado from Lizzie Read in Lawrence, Kansas. Note states that this photograph depicts what Lawrence looked like during the flood and that the writer feels bad for the people in North Lawrence. Dated and postmarked July 2, 1908.
