George Mozingo was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1945. The Japanese surrendered while he was in basic training at Sheppard Field in Texas. After training, he worked as a postal clerk in Spokane, Washington. Prior to and during the war, Mozingo worked as a farmer, a blacksmith, and for a railroad company. Because he did essential war work, he was deferred from the draft until 1945. Interviewed by Pattie Johnston on August 10, 2006, Mozingo talked about working for the railroad industry and his experiences during the Second World War. Mozingo was born in Strauss, Kansas, on October 19, 1915. He passed away on November 8, 2007.
