An installation schedule was included for the new location of the library.
The tentative schedule to moving to the new building was August 14th to 16th and it was expected the library was closed for ten days.

The board prepared brochures and refreshments for patrons during the opening of the new building.

A page of "Douglas County Historical Society Newsletter" from November 27 of 1972 was attached. The newsletter informs about the beginnings of the library thanks to The Kansas Athenaeum society. ]]> ]]> The Secretary attached the next documents:
A letter from the architect's firm with costs for the new building.
A resolution reporting that Lawrence Public Library should become taxable property institution. The library requested for tax support.
A letter directed to Lawrence city commission was attached.
Two copies of the 1972 budget form for Lawrence Free Public Library.]]> ]]> 1970]]> Increases in the costs of construction were reported.
Due to the growing Lawrence population there was the opportunity to become a separate taxing unit by 1972.
Plans for the new library were presented on June 16th with a scale model.
Lawrence library and other libraries got together to made a legal complaint regarding the exclusion of the MS-66 municipal rate schedule.]]> ]]> By January 29th the chairman, Skipper Williams, reported to the board the interviews conducted to architectural firms and the selection of four of them for the new building.
A letter with the trustees recommendation for the construction of the new building had been attached. The firm Robertson, Peters, Ericson, Harrison, and Williams was recommended and accepted.
An appreciation letter for Mrs. Weeks was added to the report by Max Stalcup.
The interlibrary loan system was discontinued.]]> ]]> Some repairs had to be made to the stairs and roof during this year.
A letter to Cora Davenport had been attached to the report as an official notification of her resignation and farewell. An appreciation card was send to Mrs. Helyar by the board.
